Normal: Sept 11, 2012

September 12, 2012

The weird thing about Oliver being home is that it doesn’t feel weird. It feels like things are the way they’re meant to be. Today I took Oliver along on the ravine walk Poppy & I do everyday with our friends Allie & Munk. Then we went grocery shopping while Poppy went on a date with Grandma at the art gallery. After her nap we took Oliver & Poppy to my mommy group, the Whales. They had a big Welcome Oliver party for him, with streamers, cupcakes, champagne, the works. Then we came home and sat on the porch chatting with our neighbors before dinner and bed. It was like the good old days only better because now we’ve got an Oliver. And all is right with the world.

We are SO grateful. People kept saying when it was over it would turn in to a distant memory. It’s amazing how quickly that happens. It’s amazing how great this version of reality is. I will never take normal for granted again. Oliver taught me that boring is very, very good.

Thank you all for sharing all our pain and all our joy. We love you all so much. Your good thoughts and prayers gave us our Ollie. We will never be able to express how much that means to us. I promise to keep blogging, but maybe a little less often. We’re hoping Oliver doesn’t give us all that much to talk about anymore šŸ˜‰ Xo

It’s so nice you can finally relax and enjoy your beautiful kids Alex. You deserve this normalcy so much! And trust me, your amazing journey taught me (and I’m sure everyone here) never to take normal and boring for granted. I’d love to add you on FB, if you don’t mind, we have a couple of friends in common…and I’d love to see how Ollie is doing šŸ™‚

Hellloooo Wessons šŸ™‚ Oliver looks picture perfect with his family at home ! Reading this blog has made me come to realize how strong you have been mom ! You always had a smile on your face, you were very brave and Oliver couldn’t have a more loving mother!

P.S Thank you for the life savers ! And Poppy, the cupcakes were delicious just like your rice krispies squares you made !

I’m gonna miss the dailies but in a selfish kinda way….loved the eloquence of your postings, the sincerity and emotions. BUT I’m also so happy you’re at this point and I’ll be watching for more updates..when you’re not too busy with Poppy and Oliver……special shout out to Tim too, who is a soldier by your side……amongst others. Have a great day!!!

Yay for boring!!!!! Great swaddle and I have the same stroller (love it!)!

  10. Hurray for normal! He looks so absolutely normal too. Baxter was yellow and thin when he came home. Ollie could kick his ass. Now you can look at some of the very few positives about coming home with an NICU baby: they know the difference between night and day, they are on a wicked schedule, they can sleep through anything, everyone knows how special they are – not just you!

  11. Love the pic of Daddy with Poppy and Oliver! SO cute!

Great to hear things are normal šŸ™‚ AWESOME šŸ™‚

Yes, keep us posted, but spend your time just playing with your family and being a beautiful mummy!!

  12. So happy for all of you – Oliver especially as he gets to grow up in an amazing family!

Sending you guys lots of love. I couldn’t be happier for Oliver’s first graduation, out of sick kids! I was very happy to see that when I went to visit you last week, you were gone. It made my week. Your beautiful family is now under one roof. May your strength within yourselves and between eachother be an inspiration to all. xo
